REIMAGINED - Louis Sullivan style
Louis Sullivan, often hailed as the Father of Skyscrapers, is not only celebrated for his pioneering contributions to modern architecture but also for his masterful integration of ornamental elements, seamlessly woven into the fabric of his designs.
One of his most iconic works, the National Farmers' Bank of Owatonna, Minnesota, stands as a testament to his architectural brilliance. Within this structure, I found particular inspiration in the intricately designed clock ornament positioned inside the building.
The image above showcases a reimagined fragment of this ornamental clock design, reinterpreted as an abstract bed backboard. By abstracting its forms, I sought to bridge the rich ornamental legacy of Sullivan's work with contemporary design sensibilities, transforming a classic architectural detail into a functional and aesthetically unique element.
